Raising Public and Professional Awareness
Raising Public and Professional Awareness

Children in Wales works tirelessly to raise public and professional awareness of both the problems affecting children and young people in Wales and ways that their lives can be improved. We do this in a range of ways.

Conferences, Seminars and Workshops

Children in Wales organises a range of conferences, seminars and workshops. These include our Annual Conferences which equip policy makers and practitioners across all disciplines in the children and young people’s sector in Wales with the latest essential information that will support their work. We’ve also co-hosted events on an international level, notably:

  • WorldForum 2008, co-hosted with the International Forum for Child Welfare in Cardiff in September 2008. Attended by over 300 delegates from 30 different countries across the world this major international conference enabled children’s experts to exchange good practice on issues concerning Early Intervention.
  • Rights into Action 2003 - Children in Wales was a major partner with the planning and delivery of the 1st International Congress of Young Disabled People. The event brought together 95 young disabled people as delegates from over 35 different countries around the world, to learn about their rights as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Social Model of Disability.

Training

Children in Wales provides a range of multi-disciplinary training courses, which promote an integrated approach for all those working in the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors. The courses draw on the resources of our own specialist staff team and a national network of expert individuals and organisations, to deliver high quality training across Wales. Our training programme continues to grow.
