UK Government launches new road safety campaign, 12/11/08 [W/E/NI/S]

The UK Government has unveiled a new £1.5m THINK! Campaign, which graphically spells out the dangers of not crossing the road safely and highlights the need to 'stop, look and listen' every time.

More than 9,000 children were killed or injured on British roads last year. The campaign follows new research that shows today's 6-11-year-olds need bolder and more forthright communication about road safety than ever before.

A new website, Tales of the Road, will include interactive games for children and educational material for teachers and parents. The website can be found at http://www.direct.gov.uk/talesoftheroad
