Changes to the Child Maintenance System, 27/10/08 [W/E/NI/S]

Significant changes have been made to the Child Maintenance system in Britain.

Parents with day-to-day care of children are now free to choose the child maintenance arrangements which best suit their own circumstances.

Previously, separating couples claiming benefits – who make up 70% of child support claimants - have been required to use the statutory service provided by the Child Support Agency.

Further information is available Child Maintenance and Enforcement Commission website.
