Progress of the LCO on vulnerable children and child poverty.

The purpose of the Order is to extend the legislative competence of the National Assembly for Wales to make new laws for Wales by Measure in relation to vulnerable children and child poverty.

  • 14/05/08 Committee report on revised LCO laid
  • 08/07/08 Draft LCO laid
  • 15/07/08 Draft LCO approved in plenary

Westminster:

  • 19/03/08 Secretary of State refers the revised LCO to Parliament for scrutiny
  • 03/04/08 Welsh Affairs Committee (WAC) call for evidence
  • 24/04/08 WAC call for evidence closed
  • 15/05/08 WAC meeting
  • 26/06/08 WAC report published
  • 23/07/08 Government response to the WAC report published
  • 15/10/08 Draft LCO laid before Parliament for approval by both Houses
  • 12/11/08 A Delegated Legislation Committee considered the draft Order before approval by the House of Commons. A Grand Committee of the House of Lords also considered the draft Order
  • 17/11/08 House of Commons approves the draft Order. House of Lords approves the draft Order
  • 10/12/08 Royal approval received
