National Curriculum Assessments of 7, 11 and 14 Year Olds, 2010, 19/08/10 [W]

The latest National Statistics on National Curriculum Assessments of 7, 11 and 14 year olds for Wales 2010 produced by the Welsh Assembly Government.

The key points from the latest release are:

Key Stage 1 - 7 year olds

  • Results are higher or the same for all subjects when compared to 2009, and higher by at least 2 percentage points for each subject than in 1999.

Key Stage 2 - 11 year olds

  • Results are higher or the same for all subjects when compared to 2009, and higher by at least 11 percentage points for each subject than they were in 1999.

Key Stage 3 - 14 year olds

  • Results are higher in all subjects when compared to 2009. With the exception of Welsh, which has risen almost 6 percentage points compared to 1999, all other subjects are at least 10 percentage points higher than they were in 1999.

Gender differences

  • Girls outperform boys in each core subject and key stage.
