The latest statistics on Education Maintenance Allowances (EMAs) produced by the Student Loans Company.

The key points from the latest release are:

• As at 30 June 2010, a total of 38,480 EMA Wales applications had been received for the academic year 2009/10.
• 36,110 applications (94 per cent) had been approved; 940 (2 per cent) had been rejected; 910 applications (2 per cent) were incomplete.
• As at 30 June 2010, a total of 2,400 EMA Wales applications had been received for the academic year 2010/11. Of these, 1,590 had been approved.
