Local Authority Budgeted Expenditure on Schools, 2010-11, 23/06/10 [W]

The latest statistics on Local Authority Budgeted Expenditure on Schools produced by the Welsh Assembly Government.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • Total local authority net revenue expenditure for all services is budgeted to be £5,145 million, with education services budgeted at £2,182 million.
  • Education expenditure is budgeted to increase by 3.2% in 2010-11 (non-FRS17 basis).
  • Gross schools expenditure is budgeted to be £2,462 million.
  • The funding delegated to schools is budgeted to be £1,842 million. The amount of funding that local authorities delegate directly to schools ranges between 67% and 83% of overall gross schools budgeted expenditure.
  • 75% of the total gross schools budgeted expenditure is delegated directly to schools.
  • Gross schools expenditure per pupil is budgeted to be £5,418.  This can be broken down into: £4,054 per pupil delegated to schools and £1,365 per pupil retained for centrally funded school services.  The delegated funding per pupil equates to £6,326 for nursery, £3,698 for primary, £4,194 for secondary and £17,405 for special.
