The National Assembly’s Children and Young People Committee has published the results of its inquiry into child poverty and education.
The Committee found that despite lots of good ideas and innovative policy from the Welsh Assembly Government, there is little evidence of coherent strategic co-ordination of policies to tackle child poverty.
The report has a particular focus on the Education portfolio of the Welsh Assembly Government and calls for a coherent strategy to assist schools and education providers in militating against the effects of child poverty. In the future, the Committee also intends to scrutinise the progress of other Ministerial portfolios in meeting their stated targets for eradicating Child Poverty.
The report can be downloaded from the National Assembly for Wales website.
