Services Provided

This project is based at Bangor University and it promotes, researches, and provides training and consultation in Carolyn Webster-Stratton's Incredible Years parent child & teacher programmes.

The Incredible Years (IY) Wales Centre at Bangor University was established in 2003 and officially launched by Jane Hutt, then Minister for Children. Its remit is to promote effective prevention and treatment programmes for children at risk of or experiencing conduct disorder through support to parents, children and teachers using the IY programmes.

The Centre co-ordinates research across Wales into the effectiveness of the IY programmes and is also funded by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) to train staff to deliver the programmes.

In 2005 Incredible Years Cymru charity was launched and has been successful in obtaining lottery funding for a large scale research project to establish the benefits of the IY social and emotional curriculum for high-risk children in schools in Gwynedd.

The centre holds an annual conference and publishes an annual newsletter, both supported by WAG and acts as a resource for parents, professionals and researchers. It currently has five PhD students, three research staff and three administrative/information officer staff. The centre is headed by Professor Judy Hutchings, Professor of Clinical Psychology at Bangor University.
