Children in Wales works with members to campaign for an equitable provision of services across Wales for disabled children and young people. We work to support members in developing services to help meet the needs of disabled children in Wales. Examples of this work include:

• Liaison with Managers of Social Services’ Disabled Children’s Teams, to look at how support for disabled children and their families is organised, and how the objectives of the Children First programme have impacted on local service provision.
• Organised meetings to formulate a response to relevant consultation documents, such as  - National Service Framework for Children Young People and Maternity Services in Wales.
• Representation on the Care Coordination Steering Group, which is aiming to develop the concept of care coordination throughout Wales. This concept identifies a key worker who will support disabled children and their families and negotiate with agencies on their behalf. 
• Assisting the Wales Youth Agency and CWVYS in their preparations for a conference entitled ‘Managing Change Removing Barriers - The principles and practice of implementing the Disability Discrimination Act for the voluntary youth sector
• Convening a number of forums and networks to bring organisations together to share information and good practice and lobby for issues relating to disabled children and young people. More information about these forums and networks is available by following the links below.
